So we can say that they were former character collections in the game. Even though they are not in the game, there is still a chance that the Even More Oddballs collection will come back, considering the size of the other two collections.
I don't feel like undeleting them now makes that much sense, particularly because they have been gone for years.
Also they are category pages. Categories without any pages in them are kind of awkward. Moving character collection pages to the main-namespace on the other hand is weird as well. There is not much significant content that would warrant having full pages for them.
The idea is to have them undeleted so they can be can put in a special category called "Removed Collections" and put any characters ever involved in the collections (For Doctors: Hibbert and Dr. Nick and for Even More Oddballs: Crazy Cat Lady and Mrs. Muntz) in the undeleted category pages.
I have a question to ask you and the other top users of this wiki, if you're willing to share your thoughts. As you're possibly aware, Fandom is preparing to move all wikis onto a new community platform and part of that process is the upcoming migration of your forums to Discussions.
Now, it's not quite time for that yet. We'll share more information and there will be some improvements to Discussions before anything gets migrated.
However, your community's forums stand out among the 2,000 or so remaining forum communities because it has an uncommonly high percentage of people who post anonymously. Why do you think that is? Do you feel like the posts you receive from anonymous users are generally just as productive and welcome as the ones from logged-in users?
Discussions does not currently allow anonymous users to post. That means, once your forums have been migrated to Discussions, the users who don't have accounts would either have to log in or could no longer post. Do you think the community could lose valuable people and conversations due to this?
There was some discussion about this back when the Discussion feature was first introduced on this wiki, see Thread:109818 and Thread:110125.
From a purely subjective feel about what kind of forum edits we get from anonymous users, I think the majority are "addme requests". I've given a pretty lengthy explanation of this in the thread from the first link. Most of that is still accurate, so to avoid having to type it all again, I'll just mention the things that have changed since I wrote that message:
Having a lot of in-game friends and visiting their towns has become less important for players. The feature is no longer tied to obtaining limited time content. Nowadays, only a fixed amount of permanent content can be obtained in that way.
Quite a lot of people already use discussions for addme requests, despite having to log in. In fact the addme requests are so frequent there, that it start to hinder other conversations due to addme-requests spamming the feeds. As for why this is, I'm not really sure. Maybe creating an account is not that big of a deal for people? Maybe they just use one of the OAuth providers to login?
Based on those two points I am somewhat less concerned with migrating to discussions as is, than I was two and a half years ago (crazy how time passes by). However I would still feel more comfortable if there was some replacement for anonymously posted addme-requests.
If I find some time I will try to look through the activity of anonymous forum posts to get some data on what other edits are made by them. As stated above this is merely my personal impression and having some actual evidence might be good in general.
This is great to know, thank you! Your wiki is certainly not the only one that people visit for posting add me requests or to look for other players. It might become a trend we need to pay attention to and perhaps provide some support for in the future.
Hi, do you think it makes sense to have a new category for items that give a bonus payout? I think I have a comprehensive list and I could go through and tag them all, unless there's already a way to find bonus items.
Hmm, not sure. Wouldn't it be mostly the same as Category:Premium Decorations? There is likely a few outliers in there, but most things would match, I reckon.
As an FYI: There are also some efforts to get better and more specific infoboxes. With those infoboxes it will be possible to automatically add categories like the one you suggested, but also others such as e.g. the eight Conform-O-Meter categories. This is clearly some way out though. I just don't have the time to really push such major changes. I certainly would not be against adding new categories manually because of this (my bot can easily remove them again when switching to automatic), but I thought you would like to know about the relevant future plans that exist.
Hi NoWay, I noticed that the new mystery box token in the wrestling event that started today uses the same icon as the Gold Mystery Box Tokens in last 3 Black Friday events which was the token used to open the Gold Mystery Box.
I'm not sure if its a mistake or oversight from EA or laziness from them to not use a new and different icon instead. There could be another update to fix this.
Do you think the icon from the current event's files should be uploaded to the wikia or just not upload it at all if its the same?
I used the image of the Gold Mystery Box Token when I was doing the template page for the new mystery box token since but you can change it if you want to.
Maybe it's a bit of both. This update there is one of those reference images from the show that made it into the game again. Several of those small mistakes are slipping through lately.
I think we can leave it as is. I don't expect the image to change. But if it does, we can easily update it then. Due to the template there is only one (maybe two) usages that need to be adjusted anyway.
I noticed that, I remember the same thing happened to the Bleeding Gums Cloud and the Summoning Circle during the Christmas events then they got fixed after 2 days so there could be a patch today or 2 days after that item is released in the game.
Yeah, I was a little surprised to see that EA didn't use a new icon for the token in this event and reused an old one. The token from the previous multi-event was also with the images and the exchange option for the tokens to donuts in the store isn't available so it seems like an update is definitely needed for the token system this time.
It seems that image from the show isn't in the game since that item cannot be rotated or EA might've fixed it with the patch update from Thursday which did at least fix the exchange tokens to donuts option in the store.
There is nothing really wrong with redirects. I personally just don't like them for non-main namespaces. For content pages redirects make sense because of external links, Google's search index, improved internal search behavior etc.
But for image pages I don't know of any actual advantages besides it being more convenient. When I rename images without redirect, I generally use w:c:dev:FileUsageAuto-update. That correctly updates most cases to the new file name automatically and reduces the maintenance effort of doing that greatly.
Hi, I just created a new account, and tried to add friends, but every time I try to send a request, it fails. I tried to restart my phone 3 times, and still it didn't help. Maybe you have some idea how to fix this.
Thank you in advance
